Endodontic Microsurgery
Recent technological advancement in endodontics has improved our ability to retreat the root canals systems without the need for surgery. However, Sometimes an endodontic microsurgical procedure may be necessary to save your tooth. This will depend on the extent of the infection and nature of the problem existing prior to treatment as well as the response of the involved tissues after endodontic therapy or retreatment. You will be informed, Should the need for microsurgery become evident before, during, or after endodontic treatment.

Endodontic microsurgery may be used for diagnostic purposes when clinical findings are inconclusive, or to clean and seal the canals that are not accessible during the endodontic treatment, microsurgery may also be performed to treat damaged root surfaces or surrounding bone.

Endodontic microsurgery is utilizing a sophisticated operating microscope and special microsurgical instruments and biocompatible materials. The increased magnification, illumination and smaller designed micro surgical instruments greatly improve diagnostic capabilities and the precision of surgical procedures. Long term prognosis is enhanced and post-surgical trauma is reduced.
